Mississippi's largest manufacturing employer, with more than 11,000 employees, is the sole builder of large-deck amphibious ships for the Navy and also builds Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, simultaneously building four ship classes per HII.

Pascagoula production line addition
Industrial Info Resources reported in July 2026 a planned production line addition of $200 million or more at HII's Pascagoula yard, with construction possibly beginning in 2027. HII has said it has invested over $1 billion in Ingalls infrastructure and tooling and in April 2026 was named FF(X) frigate lead yard; HII has not published details of this specific project.
