Virginia (SSN-774) class

As of January 2026 CRS reported 41 boats procured through FY2025 at about $5.0 billion each (two-per-year rate), but actual production has run at about 1.1 to 1.2 boats per year since 2022, building a backlog. In April 2024 the Navy projected Virginia-class deliveries 24 to 36 months late; three to five boats are slated for sale to Australia under AUKUS.
